Chinese New Year Charters and Other Visitors

Today, there were two more Chinese New Year charters arriving in Cairns - a China Southern A330-200 and an extra Cathay Pacific flight.

The extra Cathay Pacific flight - operated by Airbus A330-300 B-HLV, which is believed to be in Cathay Pacific's Domestic seating configuration - arrived in Cairns from Hong Kong (VHHH) a bit after 8:00am as CX2103. It departed for Hong Kong (VHHH) as CX2146 after a stopover of almost two hours.

Also visiting was China Southern's Airbus A330-200 B-5917 from Guangzhou (ZGGG) as CZ6017. It departed back to Guangzhou (ZGGG) as CZ6017 two hours later.

Many tails at International!
Another charter flight, which may not be linked to the Chinese New Year flights, was Thomson Boeing 757-200 G-OOBD from Apia (NSFA) as BY957. It is believed to be operating another round the world charter flight.

Another visitor was Toll/Airwork Boeing 737-300F ZK-TLD from Townsville (YBTL) as TFR95.
At the time of this post, it has departed Cairns and is currently flying to Brisbane (YBBN) as TFR91.

Skytrans Dash 8 Q300 Charter Flights

Early this morning, Skytrans operated two charter flights to Port Moresby (AYPY) from Cairns as Q69002 and Q69004. VH-QQN and VH-QQP - Dash 8 Q300s - operated the route.

QQN and QQP are expected to return to Cairns later this morning as Q69003 and Q69005 respectively.

Skytrans have three Dash 8 Q300s, however, they are all based down south, so it is uncommon to see them up here.

This the first part in my series of posts from New Zealand:
Whilst waiting for my flight from Cairns to Sydney, Jetstar's second Boeing 787-8 - VH-VKB was parked on Taxiway Golf

After the flight to Sydney, I captured another 787 - this time Air India Boeing 787-8 VT-ANN

Air New Zealand Airbus A320SL ZK-OXA. I also captured this aircraft in Cairns upon it's delivery flight to Air New Zealand in June last year

Jetstar Airbus A320 VH-VQC
And lastly, here is Boeing's second 787-9 - N789FT (ZB002) when it over-nighted in Auckland on a demonstration and proving trip. Air New Zealand is the launch customer of this aircraft type. Boeing flew it to demonstrate to ANZ in Auckland, before it continued on for hot weather testing in Alice Springs via Brisbane.
Apparently, the 787-9 was conducting hot weather testing in Alice Springs for a week.

Upon it's return flight to Boeing Field via Honolulu, it made a quick transit through Cairns to clear Customs and refuel!

Part 2 to come soon.
