Virgin Australia To Launch Daily Cairns-Weipa Service

Starting sometime next year, Virgin Australia will launch a daily Cairns-Weipa service using an ATR 72-500. The Queensland Government said that passenger traffic on the route has risen 15% over the past two years and it "made sense to open it out to the wider market". Sourced from: Travel Weekly

Currently, QantasLink flies from Cairns to Weipa four times a day.

Another Interesting Visitor

Also at Cairns today was Toll Aviation ATR 42-300 VH-TOQ. The ATR arrived at Cairns from Mackay (YBMK) as TFX302 at around 6:30am.

It was also noted at Cairns yesterday too.

Normally, Toll Aviation operates a Fairchild Metroliner to Cairns, but currently the ATR-42 seems to have replaced it.
